About Us

For more than 75 years, Iona College has demonstrated a commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence in the tradition of the Christian Brothers and American Catholic higher education. Named by the Christian Brothers after an island off the west coast of Scotland that is home to the monastery of St. Columba, Iona College opened its doors in 1940 with nine Christian Brothers and six lay faculty. Since then, Iona has educated and motivated an increasingly diverse student population seeking to better their lives and the lives of others, using their education for the common good to Move the World.

With more than 45 majors, 35 minors and 30 graduate programs, Iona is a highly accredited colleges with a growing global network of over 40,000 alumni. Iona has been recognized among the best in the nation for its graduates’ return on investment in terms of career success and earnings.

Graduate degrees are offered at the main campus in New Rochelle, the Rockland Graduate Center in Pearl River, N.Y., and in Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center. The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, a highly acclaimed distinction awarded to just 5 percent of business schools worldwide. Iona’s close proximity to Midtown Manhattan (just 20 miles from our New Rochelle campus) provides exceptional access for our students, faculty and administration to take advantage of the rich cultural and educational opportunities afforded in New York City.
